THE DIRECTOR

This place situated on the foothills of Alborz mountains in north Tehran was meant to be at once an urban refuge and a country retreat. The owner, a film-maker, had a keen eye for handcrafted objects but also wanted a very clean, minimal feel for the interiors.

We worked with some highly talented local artisans to produce bespoke pieces completely handmade and often using century-long traditions. Then we also introduced contemporary elements and brought in a simple feel overall.

Because of the view particularly on the side where bedrooms were situated, we opted for a very simple and natural setting to draw attention to the windows frame and what was a key highlight of this pace: mountain landscape.
